Social Media and Marketing Work

I was hired in August 2019 as a Social Media staff member. After our school year got cut short in 2020, and a short break over the summer, I returned to the department as the sole employee for social media at Rec Sports Marketing.

Working in the Marketing Department at Rec Sports has opened up opportunities to work on my photography, videography, graphic design, IT, and management skills. I work closely with our Graphic Design and Video departments to make content to post on our pages, and I work with other departments at Rec Sports, like Intramurals and Fit/Well to promote events and programs.

A day in the office is always unexpected. Some days I’ll work on social media. Other days, I may have to help another department set up a printer, take pictures and video of CPR training, laminate signs and other materials, and more.

Hosting Work: Dylan’s Takeover

Outside of social media work, I have polished my love for being in front of the camera in a new series, Dylan’s Takeover. I use improv comedy and my outgoing personality to entice students to come and have fun at the Rec Center, as well as check out lesser-known services the department provides.

Episodes are listed below!

Work as Marketing Student Supervisor

Before the fall semester started in August 2021, Texas Tech Recreational Sports rebranded to University Recreation, the first title change in over 40 years for the department. I helped coordinate social media handovers and rebranding efforts over the summer.

I also assisted in interviews for new Graduate Assistants and Employees, and we successfully hired over ten new members to the UREC Marketing Department.

Starting in the Fall Semester, I coordinate all marketing endeavors at University Recreation. I oversee all photoshoots, graphics, merchandise, and lead our student workers to make the best possible content for the department. I even appeared as the spokesman in a commercial presented to Texas Tech Student Government.
